" It’s a nice and cosey university, but as an international English speaking posddoc fellow, it was somewhat harder to get around due to the language. Majority of staff/students are local Belgian and/or French speaking people and they tend to socialize among themselves. University mostly sends emails only in French. Although very nice, it could be more internationalized. My position did not require lab/equipment so I cannot comment on that. Food was very nice, and Brussels in just 45 min by train. "

" It’s a great university, but as an international student, I feel like it’s not inclusive for outsiders enough. Most students are local Belgian people and they have their social groups since high school or undergraduates. So it’s not easy to fit in. And this university sends emails mostly only in French. It’s not English or other languages friendly. So it gives me the impression that here’s not international enough. My study don’t require any experiments or labs and I don’t like European foods in general. So I can’t give any suggestions. "

" I genuinely think it is a great University in Belgium. I think there's some specialities there that make the difference between this city and the capital. The so called "cercles" are famous places to get drunk but in fact they are really "dirty". i.e. if you have the intention to visit them, please do not show up in fancy clothes, take old one's with you; be prepared for cups of bear that are thrown in the audience and to meet a punch of really drunk people. It can be really dangerous and scary. The city is sometimes a dark place where bad event occur. Every "cercles" (as they call them), the café "pyramide cactus" at week end (when all other student are back home). There are parties everywhere, every week evenings. I especially appreciate "les mercredi de la guitare" and "les mercredis de la jonglerie". Don't miss the "15 days of beer" (located in the mds this year): you can try 150 belgian beers at a good price! "

" The city is accessible only by foot, which makes it very nice to discover the different university buildings. UCLouvain has a very high level of research proposals, and a high level of education. I did my Bachelor and my Master's there, and I would definetely recommend. "

" Great university and social scene ! The camous is quite big and includes a lot of dorms (kot), shops, restaurants, bars and overall places to have spend time when you're not in class or studying. The general ambiance is very nice and people are very kind and open-minded. Most of the lectures are interesting and well taught. "
